Iconic.

Seven+ years of friendship. It wasn't without disagreements or moments of being let down. It was balance, change, and growth. It was late nights, sleepovers, school dances that turned into college parties, holidays, and much more. It was sharing happiness on good days and your heart on the bad. This friendship was built on trust and with the comfort it provided, it became home.

Isn't it special when you find a friend that feels like home? A friend worth sharing your secrets with. One who supports your adventures, goals, and all that you aspire to become. A friend who listens and hears exactly what you are saying. One who is honest with you, even when the truth is painful. A friend who feels your emotions with you: happy or sad. One who can see your differences as an opportunity for learning. A friend who can grow with you.

Being a mother (parent) and being a friend; the balance can be difficult to find. First, it is canceling lunch plans because of nap time, then trading dinner dates for bedtime routines. And maybe as our kid(s) get older the naps and bedtime routines will turn into sports or school concerts. I know you might be thinking that I don’t have to work my day around meals or bedtime routines, but sometimes I want to. Our house flows better when we are all fed and well rested; and though our routine can be interrupted at times, I don’t mind when it is not. This chapter in my life is about making choices that work best for my entire family and in this home, we work around naps, meals, and sometimes attitudes. I have an abundance of appreciation for the people I call my friends. They're flexible, understanding, and supportive as I navigate life. Each of them has something beautifully unique to offer, but it is their devotion to being kind people that makes me adore our friendship(s) the most.

So, if you're lucky enough to find a friend who will love you through all seasons of life, love them back. Encourage them to be the best versions of themselves, but if they fall short, love them anyway. Appreciate the friends that still show up, despite the rescheduled and sometimes cancelled plans. Cherish the friends that recognize your efforts and despite all of chaos that life may bring, they still create space for you. And when a bump presents itself right in the middle of your friendship, because it may, hold hands as you navigate over the bump. Most importantly, I hope you find peace in the fact that not everyone can tag along as you blossom into different stages of life, but the people that can are meant to be right alongside you.

Never forget your importance in someone's life, even if they forget to remind you.
